Who we are
We are a grassroots group of parents, neighbors and friends who champion a safe and thriving community for all Houstonians, starting with our own neighborhood here in Woodland Heights. We proactively advocate for justice, promote safety awareness, and collaborate with local law enforcement and community partners to empower families to live, work, learn, and play without fear.
Our Goals
Promote Safety
Advocate for a safe environment for all residents by raising awareness about safety issues, and collaborating with local law enforcement to enhance neighborhood security.
Foster Engagement
Encourage participation of parents, neighbors, and friends in order to build a strong community network dedicated to improving the neighborhood.
Advocate for Justice
We actively pursue justice in cases affecting our community members, and strive to ensure accountability and address systemic issues.
Empower Families
We provide resources and support to help families feel secure, creating an environment where we can all live, work, learn, and play without fear.
Strengthen Partnerships
Collaborate with local law enforcement agencies to improve community-police relations, and develop partnerships with other community organizations to amplify impact.
Expand Impact Beyond Woodland Heights
Use successful initiatives in Woodland Heights as a model for other Houston neighborhoods, thereby contributing to the overall safety and well-being of all Houstonians.
MDS aims to create a thriving, safe community through grassroots efforts, starting in Woodland Heights but with a vision to positively impact the broader Houston area.
